 Methane seeps in July

 --Going to the NE Santa Monica mound.  807m ~10-15m above seafloor.  100m across, 50m wide on top.  Currents are 10cm/sec on top of mound.

Must pick-up McStar sometime during cruise.

Also will have 4 gulper samplers--2 on swing arm, 2 on porch.

Much discussion on hydrate spontaneously forming and how it may impact DWSM.

 Actions:

• Can we mimic hydrate formation in lab?  unlikely.
• What are our contingencies if we form  hydrate plug?  Exhaust the intake tube from the back side?
• We could send a sample system down in March and see if you get hydrate formation.   

Lab Stuff

 Code:

• Gordon/Betty running the same firmware/software
• NEO -- super old stuff
• Bruce/Mack--running older stuff, but they are even different from each other (although that diff is small; could be just in the WCR protocol script)
• Moe--unknown what it has, as code has not been checked back into CVS in a long time

Plan:

Roll Bruce back to Oct, 2008 code and recreate a good DA run.

Push Mack forward so it's running Gordon/Betty code and see if that fixes sign inversion error.

Upgrade firmware on Moe to the latest.

Cheri will be helping with all this.
